MAC Burgundy X9 Make Up Tutorial

2015-07-27 12.15.13

Recently MAC has come out with their pre made palettes. I was never really into them until I saw the Mini palettes such as the one above. This palette is 9 eyeshadows that fit into their regular four pan palette. This palette is so handy for travelling or putting in your make up bag for touch ups.

There are 4 different palettes to choose from I went for the Burgundy one. The shades in this palette are Honey Lust, Poppyseed, Quarry, Antiqued, Embark, #noir, Haux, Star Violet and Sketch. The price of this eye shadow palette is €40 and I bought mine of Brown Thomas . They were amazing it came within two days I would highly recommend them if you live in the Republic of Ireland.

Onto the Eyeshadow look;

L’Oreal Infalliable foundation in 120, Urban Decay Naked Concealer in Warm Neutral, MAC Harmony to Contour, NYC Sunny Bronzer, MAC Soft and Gentle to Highlight

MAC Soft Ochre paint pot to prime, MAC Cork in the crease, MAC Embark to deepen the crease and outer corner. Sketch in the outer corner. MAC Honey Lust all over the lid.

A Hint of Cranberry

DSC00700 DSC00703

I am just obsessed with make up tutorials at the moment, they really make me break out of my comfort zone and try something new! Who knew I’d purchase a teal eyeliner and love it that post is  coming soon! At the moment I feel like my blog is changing so expect less reviews and more tutorials!

Here’s a look at what make up I wore today, It was very minimal and unfortunately the camera doesn’t pick up my cranberry eye liner but trust me its there!

This is my go to look and it will only take you five minutes tops! A video is on its way so make sure your subscribed to my youtube channel to see it pop up in your subscriptions box!

Let’s begin with Base  I am trying out a new foundation at the moment it’s the L’Oreal Infallible 24H Stay Fresh Foundation I wear the shade 120 Vanilla. To me this is heavier than L’Oreal True Match but it still feels light and give a flawless finish. For Concealer I used the L’Oreal True Match Concealer in 2, its ok it conceals!  Now onto the contouring the only product I ever use for contouring is MAC Harmony! Its amazing at giving me cheekbones!

Next onto Eyes The most exciting part. I swept MAC Wedge all over the lid, Wedge is a cool toned brown colour and then on the outer third of my eye I buffed MAC Swiss Chocolate, its a gorgeous Red- Brown. Thats all I did on my eyelids. On my waterline I lined them with NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 619 Rust. Its more cranberry than rusty to me. I smudged the eyeliner out with a MAC 217 that I had used on my eyelid.  I then added lashing of L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara. The fact that this mascara is discontinued still makes me so upset!

On my Lips I’m wearing Maybelline Lipgloss in Cashmere Rose.

This is such an easy look if you recreate this look or want me to recreate a look tag me or use the #laurenaalice so I can find them.

Best Drugstore Palettes

Palettes are something I love! Palettes combine all the best colours that complement each other.

I am horrified to say that I never normally gravitate towards drugstore palettes. I always go for high-end palettes such as Urban Decay and MAC but that changed after a little trip to Boots.

The palettes I picked up are L’Oreal Color Riche Les Ombres in E3 Infiniment Bronze, Bourjois Paris Smokey eyes in 04 nude ingenue and Sleeks I Divine palette inVintage Romance.

L’Oreal Infiniment Bronze

This is a gorgeous copper toned smokey eye palette. I absolutely love the copper shade.

Bourjois Nude Ingenu

This palette is your classic smokey eye.

Sleek Make Up Vintage Romance

This pallete has all my favourite colours in it. I love the cranberry colours.

Gel, Liquid or Pencil Eyeliner – Whats Best?

Pencil eyeliner is what I call the beginner eye liner. This is probably the first eye liner product you will buy and for good reason. Pencil eyeliners are easy to use and they create a soft look. Pencils can be smudged out on the lash line so they look barely there or can be used all over the lids as an eyeshadow.

  • great for beginners
  • soft lines
  • can be used as an all over eyeshadow
  • suitable for tight-lining and water-lining.

Gel Eyeliner  a hybrid of liquid and gel eyeliner. It creates precise liner but they can also be easily smudged.

  • matte finish
  • precise lines
  • can be smudged
  • suitable for tight-lining and water-lining.

Liquid Eyeliner creates precise, clean lines.

  • perfect for winged liner/graphic lines
  • Excellent staying powder
  • Glossy finish
  • not good for beginners
  • Do not use in the waterline – it will burn.

Products shown above Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, MAC Dipdown Gel Eyeliner, L’Oreal Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner in 211 Purple Dream, L’Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim in Intense Black.

September Make Up Bag

September MakeUp 1

Here’s a look at what’s been inside my make up bag for september. September was the month that I really upped the glow. I usually only wear highlighter in the evenings but with the cooler weather and my skin looking a little flat, I’ve started wearing my MAC Soft and Gentle MSF everyday.

The rest of my face is really simple and quick! For my base I am still obsessed with L’Oreal True Match in W3, sometimes I wear the Bobbi Brown Stick foundation in 2.5 when I want something a little heavier. For concealer my trust Maybelline Fit me concealer is still with me. I use the shade 15. For powder I am using MAC Mineralise Skin finish in Medium to set my make up. I don’t think my contour will ever change, yep it’s still MAC Harmony blush.

For brows, I’ve dipping in and out of pencil V powder but powder has one this month I just love the natural look it leaves. I use a MAC 266 to apply it and Maybelline Brown Gel to set my brows in place.

For eyes, I’ve kept it really natural and just wearing a lot of mascara. On my top lashes I use L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof and for my bottom lashes I’ve been using L’Oreal Miss Manga Waterproof mascara.

What was your favourite make up item this month?

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Dupe

L'Oreal true Match foundation Giorgio Armani Dupe

Many of you may know that my favourite foundation is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk nothing glides on so smoothly, gives the right amount of coverage and has the lasting power of Luminous Silk, but I have found a dupe in L’Oreal True Match.

This may not come as a surprise to you make up mavens, as they are both owned by the same company and are probably made in the same factory.

The Finish

Both have a dewy finish with the L’Oreal True Match being slighter matter which I actually prefer because I always powder on top.

Shade Range

Luminous Silk has a vast shade range, I have the shade 5. L’Oreal True Match although it has 22 shades it is very hard to match yourself up. True Match is split into 3 shade categories – warm, cool, neutral. Although they have an online guide that can help you here. I found the shade W3 to suit me perfectly.

Luminous Silk £34.50

True Match £9.99
