Thoughts on Bare Minerals Bare Skin Foundation

BareMinerals came out with a new foundation formula this year called Bare Skin. Its is a brightening serum foundation that leaves your skin with a smooth natural finish.

Bare Skin comes in 20 shades and I would strongly suggest your get a few testers before purchasing because the shade on the outside of the bottle is lighter than what is inside. I was first given the shade Bare Natural 07 which is way to dark for me, I went back in and was them matched to Bare Linen 03. That is a huge difference in shades. So definitely test it out and don’t purchase before you do.

The formula needs to be shaken before you use it as it separates easily. A little bit goes along way for this foundation and the coverage is amazing. It can be sheer or full depending on what you prefer.  As for the finish, if you put too much on you can feel it on your skin for awhile but it does dry in and you don’t feel it anymore.

I got the brush that is meant for this foundation and I wouldn’t recommend it, it left my face streaky so skip that. I apply mine with the Real Techniques Blending Sponge (like the beauty blender). Gives its a smooth finish and it really pushes it into the skin.

Bare Skin is £26/€31

What are you thoughts on this foundation? I think it gives amazing coverage and a flawless finish just make sure you pick the right shade.

Bare Minerals Touch Up Veil

Bare Minerals Touch Up Veil is a soft focus mineral powder that blurs out any lines and gives a flawless finish.

What it does?

  • minimises pores and fine lines for a smooth look
  • Absorbs oil without drying out the skin
  • Prolongs wear of foundation

My thoughts;

This powder is for girls who don’t like wearing powder. Its doesn’t have that cake-y finish most powder have. It does prolong the wear of your foundation and it does keep your oils at bay!

I use Touch Up Veil as the last step in my foundation routine to give my make up a nice flawless look.

There are four shades to choose from; original, translucent, light and medium. I got the shade translucent as it will work whether I am pale or tanned.

Price

£22/€26

You can find it on Bare Minerals  or on Brown Thomas

At the Into the West Blogger Network (#ITWBN) event we were kindly gifted some Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics products to test out.

Ive heard a few Irish bloggers talk about youngblood but I had never really caught on to the bandwagon and tried them out. Now I have no idea why I didn’t try these. The two products I have trialled out above, are amazing and I don’t mean a little bit amazing. There awesome!

The foundation does look a little too dark for me but once I put it on, it blended into my skin perfectly. The shade I have is sun kissed, which would be perfect if your a NW20/25.  Youngblood’s Liquid Mineral Foundation is paraben and cruelty free! It leaves a silky and dewy finish.

This cream blush is the bomb dot com! I personally wouldn’t use it as a blusher because I never wear blusher and this is a bit too shimmery for me. But I have been using Champagne Life as a highlighter. It is a beautiful frosted pink. Its so beautiful on the cheekbones.

I can’t wait to try out more youngblood cosmetics. Do you have any favourite products that you love?

Once I found out that bareMinerals was bringing out a liquid foundation I knew I had to try it. I love mineral foundation so I wanted to see if they could get the same results with a liquid foundation.

This foundations a pure brightening serum foundation formulated for all skin types.  BareMinerals says its “a tone-correcting mineral foundation and skin care serum in one. This ultra-thin, skin-perfecting fluid provides seamless adjustable coverage, a natural finish and the look and feel of beautiful skin while delivering a noticeably brighter , more youthful appearance. Made with the bare minimum ingredients, its like nothing you’ve ever tested before”

My thoughts

finish- Dewy, medium coverage that is very build able. A little goes along way.Throughout the day is does tend to look a little oily on me, I have normal/dry skin for reference so a powder is needed. I found the foundation disappeared from my cheeks and chin in 6 hours for some people that may be ok for me its not. I need my foundation to stick around all day. Ain’t nobody want a patchy face.

Smell- Its smells like play-doh. It lingers for a while and then its unnoticeable.

Application- I apply this with my Real Techniques Expert Face brush. I find the brush above doesn’t give great coverage and it also takes forever to blend! Maybe I’m using it wrong! I’ll practice and report back on the brush situation. I apply three drops to the brush and buff it in like normal. I then apply another drop and buff this into my cheeks where I feel I need more coverage.

Suitable for- In my opinion  normal to dry skin. Oily girls this is not for you.

Shade-The shade range is huge, you will find one perfect for your skin tone. I am the shade Bare Natural 07 .

Overall I love the finish of this foundation when it is just been applied but the fact that it doesn’t last very well bother me. I have found that if I put a mineral powder on top it does last a bit longer.

Top 3 Light Bases

DSC00400

I am not one to wear full coverage foundation bases everyday, I prefer something light and natural looking, My skin but better.

Here are my top 3 light bases that I reach for on a daily basis.

No.1 Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser in Natural Beige.

This is 100% my 10/10 foundation base. A little goes a long way for this base. I need less than a pea sized amount to cover my entire face. The finish of this base is dewy and the coverage is excellent for a tinted moisturiser. I blend this in with a brush but it also looks lovely applied with a sponge or your fingers.

No.2 Diorskin Nude BB Creme in 002

I consider BB creams to be like tinted moisturiser honestly who knows the difference between them really. This base is slightly matter than Laura Mercier. This BB cream has good coverage and feels very light on the skin.

No.3 MAC Cosmetics BB Cream in Medium Plus

This base is alot thicker in consistency than the others but it still feel light on the skin. It offers good coverage and has a dewy finish.

There’s my top three light bases. What are yours?

How to get a Flawless Base | The Make Up Edit

Do you ever feel like your foundation just doesn’t look quite right? Is it too cakey, clinging to dry patches, enhancing those beautiful pores. If so I have some tips to help you.

You will need: a primer, foundation of choice and a concealer.

Let’s go: First of all I would start with applying your moisturiser, I do this so my skin is hydrated. Even if you have oily skin apply moisturiser. It might balance your skin out!

Next its time to even out our skin tone, Apply a foundation that is suited to your skins needs, preference and the correct shade. If you have oily skin use an oil-free foundation, if you have redness/scars you want to cover up wear a medium/high coverage foundation.  Remember that foundation wont conceal every imperfection nor should it. It is just there to even out the texture and colour of your skin.

Let’s  conceal create a V under the eyes with a highlighting concealer to brighten up under the eyes. Then use a full coverage concealer to hide any blemishes or flaws you may have.

Once this is done, you can finally set your make up with a translucent powder of your choice.
