Bare Minerals Touch Up Veil

Bare Minerals Touch Up Veil is a soft focus mineral powder that blurs out any lines and gives a flawless finish.

What it does?

  • minimises pores and fine lines for a smooth look
  • Absorbs oil without drying out the skin
  • Prolongs wear of foundation

My thoughts;

This powder is for girls who don’t like wearing powder. Its doesn’t have that cake-y finish most powder have. It does prolong the wear of your foundation and it does keep your oils at bay!

I use Touch Up Veil as the last step in my foundation routine to give my make up a nice flawless look.

There are four shades to choose from; original, translucent, light and medium. I got the shade translucent as it will work whether I am pale or tanned.

You can find it on Bare Minerals  or on Brown Thomas

How to get a Flawless Base | The Make Up Edit

Do you ever feel like your foundation just doesn’t look quite right? Is it too cakey, clinging to dry patches, enhancing those beautiful pores. If so I have some tips to help you.

You will need: a primer, foundation of choice and a concealer.

Let’s go: First of all I would start with applying your moisturiser, I do this so my skin is hydrated. Even if you have oily skin apply moisturiser. It might balance your skin out!

Next its time to even out our skin tone, Apply a foundation that is suited to your skins needs, preference and the correct shade. If you have oily skin use an oil-free foundation, if you have redness/scars you want to cover up wear a medium/high coverage foundation.  Remember that foundation wont conceal every imperfection nor should it. It is just there to even out the texture and colour of your skin.

Let’s  conceal create a V under the eyes with a highlighting concealer to brighten up under the eyes. Then use a full coverage concealer to hide any blemishes or flaws you may have.

Once this is done, you can finally set your make up with a translucent powder of your choice.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer |The Review

After hearing that my beloved Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer may  be being discontinued. FYI it’s not. It was just due to popular demand that it was out of stock! Thank goodness! But on a bit of spending spree. Sorry bank! I decided to give the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer a whirl.

Why I bought it?

It’s heavy duty concealer promising to cover up all blemishes and dark circles you may have.

About the product?

There is two shades, One light and one dark. The consistency is very hard and doesn’t look like it would blend easily.

How I use it?

I take my ring finger into the  lightest colour. I use my fingers as they warm up the product which makes it easier to blend. I primarily use this concealer for blemishes and redness. I prefer to use a liquid concealer under my eyes.

On the blemishes I just tap this concealer onto it without worrying about blending it in just yet.  To blend it out I use a Real Techniques Dome shadow brush to just buff the edges, I don’t touch the actual blemish.

If I was using this under my eyes, I just take the lightest colour on my ring finger and blend it in with my finger. If it needs additional blending I will use the Dome Shadow brush as well.

My thoughts?

As much as I like this concealer I think my €6 Collection one does the same job but cheaper. I also think I personally prefer liquid concealers. This is by no means a bad concealer  I just prefer liquid. The coverage of this concealer is good and doesn’t leave your blemish cake-y and dry considering it is a very dry formula.

DiorSkin Forever

This was my first ever high-end foundation. It has been sitting in my make up drawer a little unloved and empty. For some reason I just can’t part with it. Is anyone else this sentimental with their foundations?

This foundation in my opinion provides the perfect coverage (for me that’s medium) but it looks dewy and fresh. Nobody wants cake face around here. The consistency of the formula is very light and what’s great is that you only need a tiny amount to do your whole head, which makes it last a little longer. There is alot of shades to choose from. I am the shade 020, which is perfect for me!

Have you tried any dior foundations? I am a huge fan!

The Make Up Edit | Allure Deep Impact Trend

This was an editorial shot I saw in November’s Allure. The best beauty magazine in the world. I think this is a gorgeous photo and I love the simple but “deep impact” makeup look.

The skin is very dewy and flawless. This look can be achieved with a sheer dewy foundation such as NARS Sheer glow. the highlight is very strong in this look and as for bronzer it is done with a very light hand to just slightly contour the face.

For eyes they are very glossy you can achieve this look with a clear lipgloss. Strange I know but it is a catwalk secret.

Now onto lips my favourite part of this look. This is a gorgeous plum berry shade. Very similar to MAC Rebel. MAC would be the best place to find a lipstick like this as they have some many colours and tones. Its on my shopping list thats for sure.
