How to get a Flawless Base | The Make Up Edit

Do you ever feel like your foundation just doesn’t look quite right? Is it too cakey, clinging to dry patches, enhancing those beautiful pores. If so I have some tips to help you.

You will need: a primer, foundation of choice and a concealer.

Let’s go: First of all I would start with applying your moisturiser, I do this so my skin is hydrated. Even if you have oily skin apply moisturiser. It might balance your skin out!

Next its time to even out our skin tone, Apply a foundation that is suited to your skins needs, preference and the correct shade. If you have oily skin use an oil-free foundation, if you have redness/scars you want to cover up wear a medium/high coverage foundation.  Remember that foundation wont conceal every imperfection nor should it. It is just there to even out the texture and colour of your skin.

Let’s  conceal create a V under the eyes with a highlighting concealer to brighten up under the eyes. Then use a full coverage concealer to hide any blemishes or flaws you may have.

Once this is done, you can finally set your make up with a translucent powder of your choice.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer |The Review

After hearing that my beloved Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer may  be being discontinued. FYI it’s not. It was just due to popular demand that it was out of stock! Thank goodness! But on a bit of spending spree. Sorry bank! I decided to give the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer a whirl.

Why I bought it?

It’s heavy duty concealer promising to cover up all blemishes and dark circles you may have.

About the product?

There is two shades, One light and one dark. The consistency is very hard and doesn’t look like it would blend easily.

How I use it?

I take my ring finger into the  lightest colour. I use my fingers as they warm up the product which makes it easier to blend. I primarily use this concealer for blemishes and redness. I prefer to use a liquid concealer under my eyes.

On the blemishes I just tap this concealer onto it without worrying about blending it in just yet.  To blend it out I use a Real Techniques Dome shadow brush to just buff the edges, I don’t touch the actual blemish.

If I was using this under my eyes, I just take the lightest colour on my ring finger and blend it in with my finger. If it needs additional blending I will use the Dome Shadow brush as well.

My thoughts?

As much as I like this concealer I think my €6 Collection one does the same job but cheaper. I also think I personally prefer liquid concealers. This is by no means a bad concealer  I just prefer liquid. The coverage of this concealer is good and doesn’t leave your blemish cake-y and dry considering it is a very dry formula.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer |Review and Dupe

L’Oreal is seriously wowing me at the moment with all the dupes its pulling off.

What I like about it?

The brush is attached which makes it really easy to apply although personally I still love to blend it with my fingers.

Its multi-purpose meaning you can conceal those under eye dark circles and highlight your cheekbones and cupid’s bow all with this one product.

The coverage isn’t too heavy which means its perfect for everyday use and it doesn’t crease throughout the day as long as you really blend it in.

I picked up the shade Light which is lighter than my natural skin tone so it does highlight and brighten my under eye bags.

The Art of Contouring

I am obsessed with contouring mainly due to the kardashians. Honestly this is the easiest thing you will ever master and you will feel great after it.

The products you need are;

a bronzer/concealer two shades darker than your skin tone.

a concealer two shades lighter than your skintone.

To achieve perfectly chiseled cheek bones, place the darker contour shade under your cheekbone from your ear to the middle of your cheek.  Highlight above your cheekbones to pop them out. I do these steps  everyday but if you are going out or want to be more adventurous  follow the picture above to really contour your face. Try and see if you can notice the difference.

The Sunday Post #18 what’s in my make up bag

Here’s a little look into what I carry around in my make-up bag everyday. I don’t carry alot of make up with me as usually I don’t need to touch it up, but here are some essentials.

I always carry a hand sanitiser in my handbag because I have OCD on cleaning my hands. Also it is essential that I have some form of a hair clip because I can’t deal with hair in my face. This one is from Primark/Pennys.

Now onto the make up I carry around the Laura Mercier Pressed Mineral Powder for when I get oily. What’s a make up without a concealer? I am using the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer which is just ah-mazing.  For mascara I am using the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Review here    . On my lips I’m loving L’Oreal Caresse Lipstick in 101 Tempting Lilac, such a pretty everyday shade.

That’s all I carry around with me. Not alot but I don’t fancy lugging everything I wear on my face. What’s in your make-up bag?
