One Minute Smokey Eye

  •

I wear some version of a smokey eye almost everyday. So when you are rushing in the morning you need something that is quick and will always look great!

First of all use the right tools, this will make your life so much easier. I use either a MAC 217 or Blank Canvas E25 for blending and a MAC 232 for packing on the colour. They are the only two brushes you need!

For eyeshadows I préfère warm toned browns but if you prefer cool tones go with that. I only use three colours for this smokey eye. Cork, Swiss Chocolate and Woodwinked all by MAC.

To start I apply Cork into my crease spend your time and really buff this in. Next I apply Swiss Chocolate to the outer third of my eye, still concentrating on my crease. Then I pack on Woodwinked with a flat shader brush all over my lid, don’t go into the crease. Final step is to buff is all in with your blending brush! Viola there is your one minute smokey eye.

The key to this look is a little colour and a lot of blending! Go on Try it and tag me in your pictures @laurenaalice or use the #laurenaalice

For the rest of my face I am wearing the usual; Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk in shade 4, Urban Decay Naked Concealer in Warm Neutral, MAC Harmony to Contour, BareMinerals Mineral Veil to set my foundation.  For my Brows I am using Soap and Glory Archery pencil in Brownie Points and my lashes are all down to Benefit Roller Lash. Finally on my lips its MAC Pattisiere.

Wet and Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow in Lagoon

I’ve been wearing a lot of colour on my lower lash line normally I opt for burgundy’s but this blue was so amazing! I had to try it on.  I have never tried Wet and Wild eyeshadow’s before actually I’ve never tried anything and I am seriously impressed. This eyeshadow is so pigmented that I only needed one sweep! Amazing!

I put this on my lower lash line with a fluffy angled brush.

How would you wear this eyeshadow?

Wet and Wild can be purchased in some Primark stores and Dunnes Stores in Ireland.

Revlon Color Stay Moisture Stain

To get us in to the festive spirit I thought I’d show you my two favourite bold lip favourites for winter.
Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain Lip tints are incredible for creating an easy bold lip.

The colour pay off for these lip stains is really good. The colour on the tube is the colour it comes out on your lips as you can see from the swatches above. These feel really nice on the lips and as they are moisturising they don’t cling to your dry patches or separate throughout the day.
These lip stains last a really long time. I only reapplied after about 5 hours of wear which for a lipgloss. I think this really good. I’ve started using a lip liner under theses stains and that really prolongs the staying power! As for the texture of these stains, they feel so buttery and smooth! So much better than lipstick.

The two shades above are my favourite, I prefer the bolder shades in this range, the peachy nudes are not really my cup of tea from this range. The fucshia pink is 015 Barcelona Nights and the berry colour which is my personal favourite is 005 Parisian Passion.
I purchased my Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains in Boots for €10.99/£7.99

Bare Minerals Touch Up Veil

Bare Minerals Touch Up Veil is a soft focus mineral powder that blurs out any lines and gives a flawless finish.

What it does?

  • minimises pores and fine lines for a smooth look
  • Absorbs oil without drying out the skin
  • Prolongs wear of foundation

My thoughts;

This powder is for girls who don’t like wearing powder. Its doesn’t have that cake-y finish most powder have. It does prolong the wear of your foundation and it does keep your oils at bay!

I use Touch Up Veil as the last step in my foundation routine to give my make up a nice flawless look.

There are four shades to choose from; original, translucent, light and medium. I got the shade translucent as it will work whether I am pale or tanned.

You can find it on Bare Minerals  or on Brown Thomas

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics

At the Into the West Blogger Network (#ITWBN) event we were kindly gifted some Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics products to test out.

Ive heard a few Irish bloggers talk about youngblood but I had never really caught on to the bandwagon and tried them out. Now I have no idea why I didn’t try these. The two products I have trialled out above, are amazing and I don’t mean a little bit amazing. There awesome!

The foundation does look a little too dark for me but once I put it on, it blended into my skin perfectly. The shade I have is sun kissed, which would be perfect if your a NW20/25.  Youngblood’s Liquid Mineral Foundation is paraben and cruelty free! It leaves a silky and dewy finish.

This cream blush is the bomb dot com! I personally wouldn’t use it as a blusher because I never wear blusher and this is a bit too shimmery for me. But I have been using Champagne Life as a highlighter. It is a beautiful frosted pink. Its so beautiful on the cheekbones.

I can’t wait to try out more youngblood cosmetics. Do you have any favourite products that you love?

Bourjois Smokey Eyes 04 Nude Ingenu

IMG_4140 IMG_4142 IMG_4143 IMG_4172 IMG_4173 IMG_4169

Bourjois Nude Ingenu (04) is a palette I wasn’t too sure of at the start, I didn’t know if the two brown shades would complement each other. But it is now one of my favourite palettes and its great for travelling as it is so small!

Texture

Super buttery! I think there a little bit of a dupe for the Chanel eye shadows, (made by the same company, feel the same, look the same – confidence I think not!)

Colour

The colour pay off isn’t very vibrant but I really love the middle shade. It is beautiful on the lid. Its a pinky brown which is something I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards but I actually think it really suits me. I wear the middle shade all over my lids on its own for day to day wear.

The shimmer-y highlight colour needs a few coats to give the best colour. Its a lovely inner corner highlight as it is not as chunky as MAC Nylon which is what I normally wear on my lids.

The deepest brown colour I used to just intensify the lighter brown shade on the edges. It is very easy to buff this colour away so be careful and apply it gradually.

My Thoughts

I think this palette is amazing for an everyday smokey eye. At night I would want a more intense colour although this could be achieved by wetting your brush to intensify the colour. The shades in this palette really complement my eye colour and skin tone. When I put the middle brown shade on first I was seriously impressed. It is now my go to eye shadow for everyday! This is extremely unusual as I normally like to wear matte shades during the day.
